How good is Battlefield 2042 - Is it worth the hype?

15-11-2021

During the past months, we have been talking about how good Battlefield 2042 looks. Without a doubt, the graphics shown to us look impressive and probably the best-looking shooter multiplayer game out there.

If you have an Xbox Game Pass you are able, at this moment, to play 10 hours of the game for free. You can do this on the EA Play Beta App. The game will be officially launched on the 19th of November 2021, at this time you will be able to buy Battlefield 2042 for approximately 60€.

I have played the game for less than 1 hour, but the time I have played allowed me to understand how beautiful the game actually looks while playing it, and that despite all of the graphical changes they have not changed much, which in my opinion is a good thing that they kept "Battlefield as battlefield". The lobby was with 128 players on a battle for territory.

My doubts started to appear when I read that a GTX 1050 TI and an I5 6600K would be the minimum required to run the game. I have an I5 7700K and a Gtx 1060 6GB, so this was intriguing for me, as I wanted to know how well it would run on my setup. I entered the game started recording with OBS and after changing all the settings to low I jumped into a game. I was definitely running under 60FPS. I went back to the options, and there is no way of turning the FPS counter in the game. I stopped the recording and tried to play the game with nothing else open on my computer and still was running under 60FPS. After a while, I gave up and stopped playing.

Coming from a shooting games background smoothness is really important for me and definitely, that was not smooth at all, every time I saw an enemy I could feel the lag while I tried to shoot.

Now, I know Battlefield games are known to be heavy, but is this the end of the GTX series when it comes to gaming?

The game is definitely amazing but it's really heavy for a normal machine to run it at 60FPS. Let me know your opinion about the game and your experience in the comments.
