Review: Deceit

05-06-2021

About the game:

Deceit tests your instincts for confidence and deceit in an action-packed multiplayer first-person shooter. You wake up in an unknown environment to the sound of a strange voice, surrounded by five more people. A third of your party has been infected with a deadly virus and tasked with killing other innocent players. The innocents must be alert, go through the three zones, and reach the exit, while the infected try to kill them one by one. When playing Innocent, you progress on the map and find items to help you survive. However, you'll need to decide which ones are more valuable and whether you should collaborate or fight the other players to get them. Each decision gives you more information about your teammates, even allowing you to find out which side they are likely to be on. A test of strategy and skill, the Innocents must work together to get weapons, objectives and vote suspects to increase their chances of survival. The environment was set to cause conflict between players, creating doubts about their true intentions. The infected will be busy drinking bags of blood and trying to cover up their attempts at sabotage, while the innocent will be watching out for suspicious activity and even forming alliances with those they think they can trust.

Price:

Deceit is a free-to-play game and you can find it on Steam.

My thoughts

The game itself has a good concept but still needs a lot of work. The strong point is the maps, at least I didn't find flaws in them and so far I've only been stranded once. The characters are well done but in my view they need to make the movement more organic it's a bit static and you hardly notice the difference between running and walking. The biggest bugs are in the lobby (friends appear OFF when they are ON when you change the character and the icon takes a long time to read, the characters lose their equipped skins and even run out of weapons, the experience bar doesn't fill up when you finish the game, among others...) most of the time you have to restart the game and go back to normal. In game there are few bugs, I only found the Halloween pistol that loses its texture and when there is contact between characters, they lose their physics and become distant. Personally I really like the game, but I think it will have a turbulent future, I don't see how they can implement new things besides maps, festive events and skins, the characters are irrelevant (both innocent and infected) as they have nothing to distinguish them in terms of gameplay.
